Help is on the way!
The therapists at Blue Moon Senior Counseling are thrilled to serve clients throughout Washington state.
Washington is home to more than a million seniors, and the older adult population in the state is expected to grow in the coming years. As the aging population increases, so does the need for elderly counseling services. Whether you’re struggling with a diagnosed mental health disorder or looking for someone to talk to about your stress, we’re here to help.
Blue Moon Senior Counseling is a team of Licensed Clinical Social Workers, or LCSWs, who specialize in counseling for aging. All of our therapists have earned a master’s degree, completed at least two years of supervised counseling work, and passed a licensing exam. They are passionate about working with seniors in Washington and throughout the rest of the country.
Since 2011, Blue Moon has been expanding throughout the United States to reach seniors in need from coast to coast.
Seniors receive counseling for a wide variety of concerns. Some older adults have been in counseling for years to manage a long-standing mental health issue. Others receive counseling for the first time when they’re older. You could meet with a counselor for a few months while you navigate a difficult life event, or you could have a connection with your therapist that lasts for years. Our counselors understand that everyone’s situation is different, and we strive to meet your unique needs.
Our goal is to work with our clients to promote their mental and emotional well-being. Here are some of the most common concerns we address in Washington:
Seniors who are facing depression may withdraw or isolate themselves from others and experience feelings of sadness or hopelessness. In Washington, rates of seasonal affective disorder are higher than average due to short daylight hours and lack of sunshine in the winter. Fortunately, these mood disorders are very treatable with counseling.
One of the most common mental health concerns in seniors is anxiety, which can cause intense worry, panic attacks, and physical health symptoms like a racing heartbeat or muscle tension. Counseling is especially helpful for treating anxiety because you can feel safe and comfortable at home while you speak with your therapist.
Grief becomes a more common challenge as family, friends, and neighbors age alongside us. Blue Moon’s counselors can offer support as you mourn the loss of a loved one.
For seniors who feel lonely or isolated, counseling can be a valuable opportunity to connect with someone. Your therapist can recommend other ways to find meaningful interaction as well.
Seniors face major changes that affect day-to-day life. If you’re adjusting to a medical diagnosis, moving to an assisted living community, or dealing with any other transition, Blue Moon therapists can help you find and enhance coping skills that can create a more enjoyable life.
Since the Covid-19 outbreak and public health emergency, Blue Moon also offers telehealth counseling for our Washington clients. During telehealth counseling, you and your counselor are in separate locations but connect through a video call.
Telehealth counseling is just as effective as in-person therapy, it is safe and it makes our senior counseling services accessible to a wider population.
Washington is home to so many beautiful parks, famous landmarks, and other attractions. Don’t let your mental health get in the way of enjoying your life in the Evergreen State. You deserve to live a happy, fulfilling life, and senior counseling can help you achieve that. To learn more about our Telehealth services in Washington, contact Blue Moon today.
Blue Moon Senior Counseling accepts Medicare Part B for all therapy sessions provided to Washington residents. Medicare Part B typically covers 80% of the approved amount for outpatient mental health services after the deductible is met. This means most Washington seniors pay little to nothing out of pocket for their counseling sessions.
Washington state has over 1.3 million Medicare beneficiaries, many of whom live in rural areas where in-person mental health services are limited. Our telehealth model bridges this gap, making licensed geriatric counseling accessible from Seattle to Spokane and everywhere in between.
